For projects that are located outside weather is a very relevent factor. The project cannot really go outside if the electrical components are not covered up correctly because rain can destroy alot of work. And if certain elements of the project won’t work if its in the day or at night depends on the project.

Constraint 11: Weather
March 5, 2007Constraint 10: Project Problems
March 4, 2007Should the project have problems after it has been set up on the site it is not often as easy task to repair, as not everyone has the knowledge to fix it. When something breaks someone who worked on the project has to come out and even then it may not be a task that can be repaired overly quickly.
Constraint 9: Usability
March 4, 2007Some of these projects are reasonably complicated as we have to assume that other users may not be able to pick up how to get it to work. This extends to not only the interface but also i the general interaction itself. There are ways to solve this such as instructions as well as having someone there to explain how it works. But its good to have the project to a degree explain itself.
Constraint 8: Sound considerations
March 4, 2007The sound considerations include choosing which volume is high enough so that people car hear sound projects but also not loud enough that its going to distract from other works around it as well as having sounds that aren’t going to annoy everyone. This is not only important for the space that is in the Ipswich art gallery but also in other projects in the large. May want to consider wireless headphone.
Constraint 7: Expertise
March 4, 2007Expertise involves the skills of the people involved on the project and can influence the direction and pace of the project. For example if a project involves advanced mechanics and there is no one who knows how to do this then the pace of the project is limited as someone has to learn a new area of skills to complete the work that needs to be done. If the level of skills needed are to advanced then other project members may be needed to complete the project.
Constraint 6: Finances
March 4, 2007Finances is an important issue especially if the project involves expensive equipment. Dealing with these issues may include getting financing, money raising events or just seeing if some of this equipment can just be borrowed to save money. Interactive artwork is going to be more expensive than normal artwork because of the technological basis of the art therefore the planning on finance is important.
Constraint 5: Equipment
March 4, 2007Constraints on equipment would include in the Ipswich art gallery only having one big projector on one wall. Other constraints on equipment could include whether or not we would able to get sponsorship on equipment. Also the amount of equipment is another issue for example there is only a limited number of EZIO boards and other accessories.
Constraint 4: Facilites
March 4, 2007Where your artwork will be located is another constraint. The facility has to provide the space necessary for the work they also have to approve having your work in the facility. If the artwork is an outside display then you might need permission from the council or another party. Also if you want to work to gain attention then you have to have your work at a facility which is quite popular.
Constraint 3: Power
March 4, 2007Power is another problem that can occur in interactive art. Getting all of the components of your artwork powered along with other works in the same general vicinity without causing power outages or having enough power points is something that needs to be considered. Not only that but the more cords running around the more untidy the presentation of the works will be.
Constraint 2: Time
March 4, 2007Time is also a very relevant issue. Time management allows for tasks to be completed on time. Time also affects what kind of project can be created if the project is to complicated then there is a possibility that it may not be completed. But time is not just related to an individual all memebers of the team need to be wary about time so everything gets done.
